TYLER CARNEY-FALEATUA

Tyler is a dancer, choreographer, filmmaker and facilitator who has been working professionally across Aotearoa, Australia and Europe for the past decade. She has collaborated with various artists, choreographers and companies including Luke Murphy (Attic Projects), Michael Keegan-Dolan (Teaċ Daṁsa), Marina Abramović, Ta’alili, New Zealand Dance Company, Footnote New Zealand Dance, Good Company Arts and Atamira Dance Company.

Her journey as a dancer has led her across the globe, performing and touring in productions  across Aotearoa, Australia, France, Austria, Ireland, United Kingdom, USA, China, Germany and Switzerland. Along the way she has performed on some of the most prestigious stages in the world including Sadler’s Wells Theatre (2020), Théâtre de la Ville, Paris (2024) and Festspielhaus St. Pölten (2024).

Beyond her performance career, Tyler has been invited to share her movement practice with institutes and companies such as Rambert School, The New Zealand School of Dance, Unitec Institute of Technology, Atamira Dance Company, Footnote New Zealand Dance, Ev & Bow and Brent Street. A graduate of The New Zealand School of Dance (2015), she has been commissioned to choreograph (A Kind Tone) for NZSD (2022) and Ev & Bow (Still Waiting) for their graduation seasons. 

She is co-director of Threading Frames alongside Joshua Faleatua. Their award winning work centres around the integration of dance, theatre, storytelling and film which has been presented across Aotearoa, Australia, Netherlands, Greece, Sweden, and France at festivals such as CINEDANS FEST,  Schrit_tmacher Festival and Dance (lens) Festival Australia.

She is the recipient of the Arts Foundation Te Tumu Toi Springboard award (2024) and is a LOFT resident at Australian Dance Theatre (2025).
